THIS IS A PURE SINE WAVE INVERTER!
NB: While modified sine wave technology is cheaper, it is, however, also 20 % less power efficient thus imposing additional load on the battery shortening both run time and longevity of the battery.
Modified Sine Wave Inverters should not be used to feed AC Driven Motor Appliances (e.g. Fans, Refrigerators.)
Pure Sine Wave Inverters can be used with AC Motor Driven Appliances. However, when Electrical Motors start, a large inrush current is imposed on the motor. The Rated Running Current of the Motor May not, in most cases, exceed 30 % of the Inverter Current Rating!
HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR RUN TIME REQUIREMENT
(PLEASE READ)
You can tell the max power consumption of your equipment by looking at the power supply of the equipment or the rating plate For example, on a laptop power supply, we would look for output specifications, this could be for example: 19.5VDC, 3.3A 19.5V X 3.3A = max of 65W
Typical Loads Imposed by Various Common Appliances:
A standard work laptop is generally +-65W (New Dell type 15” laptop)
- Gaming laptops generally use +-130W
- Normal workstation PC’s generally use +- 250 to 350W
- Gaming PC’s generally use +- 400W – 700W
- Wireless Routers generally use 6 – 30 Watts
- CPE Boxes generally use 18 – 30 Watts
- VOIP Phones generally use 3 – 10 Watts for the wireless base and generally 3W for the VOIP phone charger (single home voip phone)
- LED Desk Lamp is generally: 5W
- A TV is generally +-80W – 125W
- DSTV Decoder is generally +-45W
- A second PC screen (24” LCD / LED) is generally +-26W – 50W
- Cell phone chargers are generally +-20W – 40W
- Surround Sound systems can be 700W+
- Soundbars are generally +-65W for the smaller units
- Laser printers can use 300 – 550W+
- Please note that anything with a motor may require up to 6 X running current for start-up (Fridges etc), therefore, we do not recommend that fridges are run on any plug and play kit
- Do not run coffee machines, kettles, irons, geysers, heaters etc etc.
Exide PP CEIL 850VA DSP Based Pure Sine Wave Solar Hybrid Inverter Chargery Plug and Play Pure Sine Wave Inverter/Charger
CIEL 850 VA Hybrid Solar Plug and Play Inverter/Charger with DC31 DEEP CYCLE Battery in Poly Carbonate Battery Box
With built in PWM Solar Charger
The Exide Power Protectors CEIL (Chloride Electric India Limited) 850VA 12V Solar Hybrid Inverter is a pure sine wave inverter and are very perfect for hybrid solar system. It has inbuilt Pure Sine Wave inverter, PWM solar charger, and Mains SMPS charger in a single unit.
It is specially designed to keep battery healthy for longer time period.
The CEIL 850 VA / 650 Watt Hybrid Solar Plug and Play Inverter Charger is a powerful hybrid inverter with 30 Amp inbuilt solar charge controller. The Solar Inverter charges the battery from both the Grid and Solar panel (If Fitted SOLAR PANEL NOT INCLUDED WITH PRODUCT!). If Sun energy is available then It charges the battery from solar Panel and if Solar is not available, then the inverter charges the battery from Mains/Grid. It can charge the battery and supply solar power to connected load if solar generation is sufficient otherwise it gives first priority to solar battery charging and then supply additional power to connected loads.
For the minimization of electrical power, it uses optimum utilization of solar power with the technology of interactive solar charging with grid.
With the CEIL 850VA Solar Hybrid Inverter, you get the assurance of quality, using the charge controller fitted by the inverter manufacturer. With the CEIL 1050VA Solar Hybrid inverter, you simply install your solar panel and you are good to go.
Other features are it is facilitated with high surge power of starting critical load, simple and easy handling with high reliability. Another significant point is its very low no load current.
Pure Sine Wave Solar Inverters perform adequate for general home lighting and computer use. The charging current and algorithm is designed for prolonged battery life.

SPECS
BATTERY LIFE EXPECTATION
The DC31 battery has a 1 year manufacturer’s warranty (carry-in owing to normal use) / 200-300 Cycles @ 80 % Depth of Discharge in Leisure / Marine Use.
The DC31 battery has a 6 MONTH manufacturer’s warranty (carry-in owing to normal use) / 200-300 Cycles @ 80 % Depth of Discharge in Inverter / Standby / UPS Use.
This translates roughly to 200-300 Loadsheddings of 2.5 - 4 Hours Duration (Dependent on load) or 4 - 5 Years Life on Float Charge (Whichever comes first)
Failure to allow sufficient Recharge Time between Loadshedding Events to achieve at least 90 % State of Charge results in ABNORMAL WEAR AND TEAR due to the battery continuously and repetitively operating in the lower band of State of Charge. An analogy would be operating the Pneumatic Tyres on your car at low pressure (Voltage is "Electrical Pressure")
Fully Discharged Batteries take +- 8 – 16 Hours to fully recharge at the recommended charge rate of 10 % of Capacity. (+-10A Charge on a Wet Cell Calcium Deep Cycle Battery)
We highly recommend that you size your battery accordingly to achieve 4+ hours runtime to Full Discharge (10.5 Volts)
One DC31 Batteries will run 150 Watts of Load for FOUR Hours before reaching the Low State Of Charge Cut Off Voltage.
This results in a Discharge of approximately 100% on a 150 Watt Load after the end of each 4 Hour Loadshedding event, and, at some time during a 24 Hr period, an extended "rest period" of 10 hours during which the battery can fully Charge to 100 %.
During Eskom Stages 1 - 4 the average loadshedding is 2 hours, this means that the battery will be discharged to +-50% , leaving 5 hours charge time (about 50 Ah) to reach "Near Full State of Charge" between Load Shedding events, and, at some time during a 24 Hr period, an extended "rest period" of 10 hours during which the battery can fully Charge to 100 %. (This "Rest Period):
During Periods of Sustained Stage 5 and higher Load Shedding Events we would suggest reducing loads to bare minimum items needed / turning the inverter output off if not in use / Increasing Battery and or Inverter capacity
